Call for Entry
Eligibility
Any image taken with a mobile phone device (i.e. iPhone, Droid, etc.) is eligible to be submitted for this juried show. Post processing of the image is allowed, while not required it is encouraged this is done on the mobile device. Images that are deemed not taken with a mobile device will be discarded from the jury process.
Locations
Two venues will be utilized this year in Northwest Denver to show the work selected to be part of the Mobile Phone Juried Show. The primary location is gallery nrc which is a photography gallery featuring the work of established and emerging photographers. The second location is T Gallery at MODesTEA, recently voted one of the top teashops in the Denver area. Both locations are within walking distance to each other and are stops on the popular first Friday artwork along Tennyson Street.
Timeline
- Open for Entries: June 15, 2013 – August 10, 2013
- Juried Notification: August 25, 2013
- Opening Reception: Friday October 4, 2013
- Show Duration: September 26, 2013 – October 19, 2013
Entry Fees
Photographers may submit three images for $15. Additional images may be submitted at $5/each however no more than 10 images may be submitted. Individuals who enter more than ten images using multiple entries will have all of their work disqualified and their entry fees not refunded.
Work selected to be included in the show and sold will be charged a commission rate of thirty (30) percent, which should be included in the selling price as indicated by the artist. Artists accepted may also bring matted pieces to display in the bins at the gallery. This is limited to three bin pieces for each piece accepted.
Image Submission
Images will be submitted electronically and should not exceed 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72dpi.
Selection Process
This is a juried show. All artwork submitted to be considered will be reviewed by the juror. Images will be rated based on composition, originality and overall content with their selection comprising of the show. The jury process is a blind process, thus watermarks or any identifiable items should not be included on the submitted image. Once the artwork is selected and hung at the gallery the final award winners are determined. This allows to view the final presentation of the piece in the show.
Juror
One juror was selected to jury this show and has been part of the prior two mobile phone images shows at the gallery.
Sam Krisch
Sam Krisch is a Roanoke, Virginia fine art photographer. His landscape and portrait work has been exhibited recently in exhibitions throughout the U. S. and his prints are part of corporate, museum, and individual collections.
He also explores alternative digital photography and his iPhone work has been exhibited in juried art shows at galleries in Denver, Miami, and Modesto, CA. In 2012 he was the juror for the National Juried Photography Exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lynchburg, VA where he will also exhibit his work in June, 2013 in a solo exhibition entitled “Roaming Plan: iPhone Wanderings” He is on the Museum School Faculty at the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke and his landscapes from Iceland and Antarctica were part of a recent installation at the Taubman entitled “State Of The Art: Virginia Crossroads.” He has recently been named Adjunct Curator for Photography for the Taubman Museum of Art.
Krisch holds a Bachelor’s degree Cum Laude in History from Harvard University. He has also attended Hollins University in Virginia where he earned a Master’s degree in Humanities and a second Master’s in Screenwriting and Film Studies.
Awards
The juror will select a Best of Show image from all the images juried into the show. In addition a People’s Choice will be selected the public who have visited the show. In order to be eligible to cast a vote for this award an individual must visit both locations.
Artwork Requirements
Pieces must be provided ready to hang at the gallery. Those pieces without the required hardware will not be included in the show. Frames with sawtooth hangers are not acceptable. Finished pieces may not be larger than 20 inches on the longest dimension. If a provided piece is greater than 20 inches on the longest side it will not be a part of the show.
Delivery of Artwork
Accepted artwork shall be delivered to gallery nrc at the specified times as stated in the acceptance notification. Included with the delivery should be the artwork details form if not provided ahead of time. All artwork should be noted on the back with the name of the artist.
Liability
While utmost care will be given to all pieces after arrival and placement, gallery nrc, or T Gallery/MODesTEA will not in no case be responsible or liable for any loss or damage during the installation, display or return of artwork. The artist is responsible for the delivery of all accepted work during the specified times. Artists are encouraged to insure artwork if they feel the need for such protection.
Refunds
Once an entry is submitted there will be no refunds of the entry fee.
